Recently, our company successfully delivered a batch of Class 3000 stainless steel threaded pipe fittings to a machinery equipment company in Shandong Province. This was our first cooperation order. Although the order quantity was small, the customer had very strict requirements for piping connection safety.
To ensure these fittings work perfectly with the customer's high-pressure machinery, we strictly followed three key standards during production:
Material – SS316: The customer specified ASTM A182 F316 stainless steel. We used spectral testing to check every batch of raw material. This ensured the material composition met the standard and provided excellent corrosion resistance.
Standard – ASME B16.11: All products were made according to the ASME B16.11 standard. This ensured the thread accuracy and pressure rating fully met the design requirements.
100% Inspection: Unlike regular spot checks, we arranged for a dedicated person to inspect each piece. This ensured every product the customer received had accurate dimensions and zero defects.
Because of this professional attitude — "keeping high standards even for small orders" — we won the customer's trust with our quality.

Class 3000 stainless steel threaded pipe fittings are forged high-pressure fittings made according to the ASME B16.11 standard. Their key feature is the ability to withstand higher working pressures than regular fittings. They are suitable for high-pressure industrial piping systems such as petrochemical, natural gas, and shipbuilding.

The Class 3000 pressure rating is not an isolated number. It is directly related to the wall thickness of the connected pipe. According to ASME B16.11, Class 3000 threaded fittings are compatible with Sch160 pipe wall thickness.
The table below shows the relation between different pressure ratings and pipe wall thickness:
Fitting Type | Rating (Class) | Matching Pipe Wall Thickness |
Threaded Fittings | Class 2000 | Sch80 / XS |
Threaded Fittings | Class 3000 | Sch160 |
Threaded Fittings | Class 6000 | XXS |
This means: if you choose Class 3000 threaded fittings, the connected pipe must also have a Sch160 wall thickness. This ensures the pressure capacity of the whole system is properly matched.
Stainless steel threaded fittings made to ASME B16.11 usually use forged stainless steel material according to ASTM A182. Common grades and selection advice are below:
Grade | Key Features | Typical Applications |
F304/304L | General corrosion resistance, good value | General industry, food processing, building plumbing |
F316/316L | Added Molybdenum, better resistance to chlorides | Coastal facilities, chemical equipment, pharmaceutical, marine |
For applications with salt, chemicals, or high-temperature steam, SS316 is the preferred choice.
The ASME B16.11 standard covers a wide variety of Class 3000 threaded fittings. Common types include:

Used to change the direction of a pipeline. It has an L-shaped appearance and is available in 45-degree and 90-degreethreaded elbow types. Suitable for altering pipe direction.

Used for flow distribution or flow merging. Treaded Tee has a T-shaped appearance and is available in equal size and reducing size types. It is a common branch connection component in industrial piping systems.

Used to connect two pipes in a straight line. It is available in half-threaded coupling and full-threaded coupling types.
Size Range: All types can cover 1/8" to 4" (DN6 to DN100).

Class 3000 is a pressure rating. It does not specify the exact thread profile. You must clearly state the thread standard when ordering. The two common types are:
Thread Type | Angle | Sealing Method | Main Market |
NPT | 60° | Thread seal (needs PTFE tape) | USA, North America |
BSPT | 55° | Thread seal (needs PTFE tape) | Europe, China, British Commonwealth |
Important Reminder: NPT and BSPT have different thread angles (60° vs 55°). They must never be mixed. When ordering, always specify clearly, for example: "ASME B16.11 Class 3000, SS316, 1/2"-NPT".
To ensure the high-pressure safety of Class 3000 stainless steel threaded fittings, the production process usually includes these quality control steps:
Material Analysis: Spectral testing to confirm the material grade meets ASTM A182 F304/F316 requirements.
Visual & Surface Inspection: Check threads and surfaces for burrs, cracks, or other defects.
Dimensional Inspection: Ensure thread accuracy and fitting dimensions meet standard tolerances.
Pressure Test: Perform hydrostatic or pneumatic tests as required.
Class 3000 stainless steel threaded fittings are widely used because they are high-pressure resistant, corrosion resistant, and easy to install. Common applications include:
Oil and natural gas pipelines
Chemical equipment piping
Marine and offshore engineering
High-pressure hydraulic systems
Food and pharmaceutical sanitary piping
Power plant auxiliary piping
