Introduction of ASTM A105 Union
ASTM A105 is a specification used for carbon steel forged piping components. This type of carbon steel forging alloy involved is a low carbon, manganese and silicon containing steel similar to AISI 1330, but with lower manganese content. Chemical Composition of ASTM A105. Carbon: ≤0.35.
ASTM A105 union is a kind of forged fitting that allows the pipe work to be separated and reconnected without any horizontal movement in the pipe. It can be a standalone pipe fitting connecting two pieces of pipe, or an integral part of another fitting (such as a ball valve) which allows it to be separated.
ASTM A105 union is made for joining and disassemble a part of a piping system for maintenance or replacement. Despite the difference in connection end, class 3000 union no matter it is socket weld union or threaded union , it can basically be applied in the same material grade and within the same size range.
What is ASTM A105 Used for
ASTM A105 is the most commonly used carbon steel material grade that used to produce forged piping components such as flange and other fittings. This carbon steel material grade is used for ambient- and higher-temperature service in pressure systems.

How to Apply Union
Installation of a ASTM A105 union is to connect the two pipes: place both ends of the union to either side of the pipe and tighten it in a clockwise direction to the fullest. To ensure that no water can escape during use, PTFE tape is recommended to covering each end.
