After signing the ASTM A182 stainless steel flange order and receiving the customer's advance payment, we quickly arranged production. We completed the production task on time and delivered smoothly within the agreed delivery date in the contract. We also conducted strict dimensional inspection and spectral testing on each flange to ensure that each flange meets production standards and customer requirements.
Inspection of ASTM A182 Stainless Steel Flange
At the same time, considering the high value of stainless steel flange material itself, in order to ensure the safety of goods during transportation and avoid surface defects caused by collisions during transportation, we have adopted wooden box packaging to further improve their impact resistance during transportation. After receiving the goods, the customer conducted a detailed inspection and gave high praise and full recognition.
ASTM A182 is a standard specification developed by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) for high temperature forged or rolled alloy steel pipe flanges, forged fittings, valves, and components. It covers a variety of stainless steel materials, and different materials exhibit unique performance characteristics due to compositional differences.
The following provides a detailed analysis from three aspects: common material classification, core performance characteristics, and typical application scenarios:
The material of ASTM A182 stainless steel flange is composed of chromium (Cr) and nickel (Ni) as the core alloy elements, and some materials are optimized for performance by adding elements such as molybdenum (Mo) and nitrogen (N). It is mainly divided into two categories: austenitic stainless steel and duplex stainless steel.
Austenitic stainless steel, such as F304, F316, F321, etc., has good toughness and weldability. Excellent corrosion resistance, chromium element forms a dense chromium oxide passivation film on the surface, effectively resisting corrosion from atmospheric, water, weak acid and alkali environments. -F316 has significantly better resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion than F304 due to the addition of 2% -3% molybdenum (Mo), especially in environments containing chloride ions (such as seawater and chemical waste liquids), showing more stability.

At room temperature, it has high plasticity (elongation ≥ 40%) and toughness, excellent low-temperature performance, no brittle transition temperature, and can maintain toughness in environments ranging from -196 ℃ to high temperatures. -Medium strength (tensile strength ≥ 515MPa, yield strength ≥ 205MPa), but strength can be improved through cold processing.

Dual phase stainless steel: such as F51 (S31803), F53 (S32750), etc., the structure is composed of austenite and ferrite (usually each accounting for about 50%), combining the advantages of both types of stainless steel. The ferrite phase provides high strength (tensile strength ≥ 620MPa, yield strength ≥ 450MPa), much higher than austenitic stainless steel, which can reduce flange wall thickness and lower costs. Austenitic phase ensures good corrosion resistance. After adding molybdenum and nitrogen elements, its resistance to chloride stress corrosion and intergranular corrosion is superior to that of ordinary austenitic stainless steel, making it suitable for high salt and high humidity environments.

ASTM A182 stainless steel flange is widely used in the industrial field due to their diverse material selection and excellent comprehensive performance. Flanges made of different materials are suitable for various scenarios ranging from conventional environments to extreme working conditions due to differences in corrosion resistance, strength, heat resistance, and other characteristics.
Chemical and petrochemical industry
Energy and Power Industry
Water treatment and environmental protection industry
Food and pharmaceutical industry
Construction and Municipal Engineering
Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering
The application scenarios of ASTM A182 stainless steel flange cover multiple fields such as chemical engineering, energy, water treatment, food, construction, and marine engineering. Austenitic stainless steel flanges (F304, F316, etc.) have the advantages of corrosion resistance, toughness, and easy processing, and are suitable for scenarios with conventional corrosion, medium and low temperatures, and high hygiene requirements; Dual phase stainless steel flanges (F51, F53, etc.) are designed with high strength, harsh corrosion resistance, and fatigue resistance as their core, and are suitable for extreme working conditions such as high pressure, high salt/high acid, and vibration impact. By selecting flanges of corresponding materials based on the type of medium (acid alkali, salt spray, high temperature), pressure level, and environmental conditions, the safe and stable operation of industrial pipeline systems can be ensured.
