ASTM A234 WPB is a common carbon steel material with excellent welding and mechanical properties, capable of withstanding high pressures and temperatures.ASTM A234 WPB butt welding elbow is an important pipe connection fitting, widely recognized for its low price and high quality, and widely used in the chemical, petroleum, and natural gas industries under high temperature and high pressure conditions.
Shanghai Zhucheng Pipe Fitting Manufacturing Co., Ltd. has been engaged in the export business of pipe fittings for many years and is a very mature pipe fitting supplier. It is very familiar with ASTM A234 WPB butt welding elbows. Not long ago, we just completed an order for ASTM A234 WPB 90-degree long radius elbows from an Iranian customer.
This order is from our regular customer , their company major in project of piping system and gas project,so the tender we get from them always with large quantity and small item number, that’s why they have required very competitive price to win the tender.Besides they have special requirement of the markings on the surface, with specific words and pictures.
After quotation, they have replied they enter the final round of the bide. To win this tender with them, we double checked the technical documents and accounted the cost in package and marking again and again and got the final offer to them. Finally they won the tender and of course we got the order.
Purchase Order List
As can be seen from the above details, this order is all ASTM A234 WPB 90 degree long radius elbows, which are required to be manufactured according to the American standard ASME B16.9 production standard. For such orders, we are very familiar with the operation. We not only provide customers with a full range of services including painting, grooving, typing, and packaging, but also after the order is completed, the quality inspection department conducts dimensional inspection on the products and provides customers with inspection photos and inspection reports to ensure that all products fully meet the production standard requirements of ASME B16.9.
How to Inspect Dimensions
The production standard for this order is the American Standard ASME B16.9, which specifies the dimensions, wall thickness production standards, and tolerance for butt weld pipe fittings
Tolerance Of ASME B16.9
.
The dimensional inspection of butt welded elbows includes several aspects, such as wall thickness, inner diameter, outer diameter, groove angle, and bending radius.
How To Packaging and Shipping
Large-diameter elbows are usually packaged in wooden trays wrapped in plastic film, with standard numbers and weights on each item for easy inventory after receipt by the customer.
This orders was directly transferred to the factory for packing, and we reinforced the packed products to ensure the safety of the goods during transportation.
Material Properties of ASTM A234 WPB Butt Welding Elbow
ASTM A234 WPB is a commonly used carbon steel material in butt-welded pipe fittings, with excellent low-temperature toughness, corrosion resistance, and high-temperature strength. It is mainly used in the manufacture of high-pressure valves, pipe fittings, chemical equipment, and other fields.
WPB is an abbreviation of the following English words:
W = WELDABLE / wrought
P = RELATED TO P NUMBER OF ALLOY MATERIAL
B = REFER TO MINIMUM YIELD OF MATERIAL。

Mechanical Properties
Heat Treatment
Thermally forming WPB, WPC, and WPR parts at 620℃ [1150°F] to 980°C [1800°F] without heat treatment, as they cool in still air.
Hot-formed or forged WPB, WPC, WPR fittings made at temperatures above 980°C [1800°F] should be annealed, normalized, or normalized plus tempered.NPS4 hot-forged fittings do not require heat treatment.
Accessories with a NPS of 12 or higher that are formed by locally heating a portion of the accessory blank to any temperature should be annealed, normalized, or both. These accessories include elbows, tees, and reducers, and the carbon content should be less than 0.26%. Under this forming process, NPS12 does not require heat treatment.
Cold-formed parts below 620°C [1150°F] should be standardized or stress relieved at 595 to 690°C [1100 to 1275°F].
Accessories produced by fusion welding and having a weld end wall thickness of 3/4 inch [19 mm] or greater should undergo post-weld heat treatment at 595 to 675°C [1100 to 1250°F].
