Although there are only three specifications for this batch of alloy seamless pipes, they are relatively large in size, with a length of 6 meters in length, and customers have strict quality requirements. After receiving the order, we quickly completed the procurement process and arranged for sandblasting on the surface of the steel pipe, so that the anti rust paint could better adhere to the surface of the steel pipe during painting, playing a role in rust prevention. After painting is completed, spray labels on the steel pipe ends according to customer requirements to facilitate quick identification of the size and material of the steel pipe upon receipt. Before leaving the factory, we also need to use professional tools to inspect the size and wall thickness of the steel pipes to ensure that each steel pipe meets the standard requirements.

The excellent performance of ASTM A335 alloy seamless pipes cannot be achieved without rigorous and precise production processes. The production process begins with strict screening of high-quality raw materials, selecting alloy round billets that meet the standards, and undergoing multiple inspections such as composition testing and flaw detection to ensure the purity and uniformity of the raw materials.
Next, enter the heating stage and heat the round billet in the circular furnace to a specific temperature, controlled to ± 10 ℃, to ensure that the metal plasticity meets the production requirements. Next is the perforation process, which uses advanced oblique rolling perforating machines to roll solid round billets into hollow tubes through the synergistic effect of rollers and heads. During this process, real-time monitoring of parameters such as the wall thickness and outer diameter of the tubes is required to ensure dimensional accuracy.
After the formation of the capillary tube, it enters the rolling stage and is rolled using a high-precision pipe rolling machine to further adjust its size and improve the metal structure and properties. After rolling, the pipe is subjected to sizing or reducing treatment, and the final outer diameter and wall thickness deviation of the pipe are precisely controlled by a sizing machine or reducing machine to meet the requirements of ASTM standards.
Next is the heat treatment stage, where exclusive heat treatment processes are developed based on different material models (such as P5, P11, P22, etc.), including normalizing, tempering, and other steps. By precisely controlling the heating temperature, insulation time, and cooling rate, the mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of the steel pipe are optimized.
After heat treatment, the steel pipe still needs to be straightened using a hydraulic straightening machine to eliminate bending deformation and ensure straightness. Before leaving the factory, strict finishing inspection must be carried out, including non-destructive testing, dimensional measurement, mechanical performance testing, etc., to ensure that every ASTM A335 alloy seamless pipe leaving the factory meets the quality standards.
Factory inspection of seamless steel pipes is an important step in ensuring that product quality meets standards, meets customer needs, and ensures safe use.
Outer diameter, wall thickness, and length: Use tools such as calipers, micrometers, ultrasonic thickness gauges, and laser length gauges to measure whether the outer diameter, wall thickness, and length of seamless steel pipes meet the specified tolerance range.
Appearance inspection: Using manual visual or machine vision inspection system, check whether there are defects such as cracks, folds, scars, pits, etc. on the surface of the steel pipe.
Non destructive testing: Common non-destructive testing methods include ultrasonic testing (UT), eddy current testing (ET), magnetic particle testing (MT), and penetrant testing (PT). For example, ultrasonic testing can detect defects such as cracks and inclusions inside steel pipes; Magnetic particle inspection is suitable for detecting defects on the surface and near surface of ferromagnetic materials.
Spectral analysis: Using equipment such as direct reading spectrometers, the chemical composition of steel pipes is qualitatively and quantitatively analyzed to determine whether the content of various elements (such as carbon, manganese, silicon, sulfur, phosphorus, and alloy elements) in the steel pipes meets the specified chemical composition standards.
