ASTM A350 LF2 is a low alloy material used in low temperature environments. ASTM A350 LF2 flanges are mainly used for the connection of cryogenic piping systems, vessels and equipment in industries such as petroleum, natural gas, chemical, shipbuilding, aerospace, etc. ASTM A350 LF2 flanges can maintain good performance in low-temperature environments, meeting the needs of various pipeline system applications.

Types Of Flange

ASTM A350 LF2 flange has a variety of types, and common flange types include:welding neck flange, slip on flange, socket flange, threaded flange, lap joint flange, and blind flange. The flange with a size range of DN15-DN600 (1/2IN-24IN) follows the production standard of ASME B16.5.Pressure levels: Class150, 300, 400, 600, 900, 1500, 2500; Welding neck flange and blind flange with size range of DN650-DN1500 (26IN-60IN), following ASME B16.47A/B production standard.Pressure levels: Class150, 300, 400, 600, 900.

Flange sealing surface types: raised face (RF), flat face (FF), male face (M), famale face(FM),tongue face (TG), ring joint face(RTJ). There are three common types of sealing surfaces: RF, FF, and RTJ.

Welding Neck Flange

Welding neck flange is currently the most widely used type of flange, which needs to be used in conjunction with bolts and gaskets. It has good sealing performance, corresponding rigidity and elasticity requirements, and reasonable welding thinning transition. The distance between the welding joint and the joint surface is large, avoiding the joint surface from being deformed by welding temperature.

Blind Flange

Blind flange is a flange without a hole in the middle, used to seal pipe system. Which plays the same function as the cap. However, blind flange sealing is a detachable sealing device, while head sealing is not detachable. The commonly used production standards for blind flanges include ANSI/ASME B16.5 and DIN 2527. ANSI/ASME B16.5 flanges belong to the American standard system. DIN 2527 flanges belong to the German standard flange system.

There are two specific situations of impact test of ASTM A350 LF2 flange

CLASS1 The test temperature is-46℃,At this point, the average value of the three specimens should achieve an impact toughness AK requirement of ≥ 20J, and at least one of the three specimens should have an impact toughness AK value of ≥ 16J.

CLASS2 The test temperature is -18 ℃. At this time, the average value of the three samples should achieve an impact toughness AK requirement of ≥ 27J, but the requirement for the minimum impact toughness AK value among the three samples was not mentioned.

The requirement for low-temperature impact testing is to ensure that the material has good impact resistance under low-temperature conditions.
