On January 5, 2025, we received an inquiry from an old customer from Italy. This customer had placed orders with our company many times and was particularly satisfied with the quality of our products. This time he needed to purchase a batch of monel 400 steel pipes and fittings. After a series of communications, the customer placed an order with us on January 10.
Monel 400 is a nickel-copper alloy renowned for its exceptional corrosion resistance in a wide array of aggressive environments. It's a solid solution alloy composed primarily of nickel (at least 63%) and copper (28-34%), with small amounts of iron, manganese, silicon, and carbon. This unique composition gives Monel 400 a set of properties that make it highly valuable for pipes and fittings in demanding applications.

Welding:Use gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW/TIG) or shielded metal arc welding (SMAW).
Filler metals: Monel 60 or 61 (AWS A5.14 ERNiCu-7).
Avoid sulfur-containing materials to prevent cracking.
Joining: Threading, flaring, or compression fittings (for smaller pipes).
Thermal Expansion: Account for thermal growth in high-temperature systems.
Superior corrosion resistance compared to stainless steel (e.g., 316L) in chloride-rich environments.
Excellent resistance to stress-corrosion cracking.
