How to inspect threaded caps?
Appearance Inspection
Surface defects: Use visual inspection to observe whether there are cracks, sand holes, pores, slag inclusions, folds and other defects on the surface of the pipe cap.
Surface color: The surface color of a normal pipe cap should be uniform. If there is a significant color difference, it may indicate that the pipe cap has problems such as improper heat treatment or uneven surface treatment during the manufacturing process.
Dimension Inspection
Outer diameter and inner diameter: Use measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers for measurement. When measuring the outer diameter, it is necessary to measure multiple times at different positions of the pipe cap to ensure that the outer diameter size is within the specified tolerance range. The accuracy of the inner diameter size is crucial for the fit between the pipe cap and the pipeline. If the inner diameter is too large or too small, it will affect the tightness and stability of the connection.
Length: Use a steel ruler or vernier caliper to measure the length of the pipe cap to ensure that its length meets the design requirements. Failure to meet the standard length may cause the pipe cap to be unable to be properly installed on the pipeline or to provide sufficient sealing length after installation.
