What is the Butt Weld End Cap?
Butt weld end caps are usually welded onto end of pipe that block off the piping line system, it has same function with plugs and blind flanges. It is available in material of carbon steel, stainless steel and alloy steel.
UNS S32750 butt weld cap is engineered to provide a secure and permanent solution to close the end of pipelines. Sizes range from 1 to 24 inches and fit seamlessly into various industrial applications.
This type of caps are suited for use in facilities ranging from waste treatment and chemical processing to breweries and cryogenic plants. Their robust design is particularly valued in high-demand environments such as oil and gas processing, nuclear power plants, and paper production.
Material Grade of Butt Weld End Cap
Carbon Steel Cap
ASTM A234 WPB/WPC, ASTM A420 WPL6, ASTM A860 WPHY 42 / 46 / 56 / 60 / 65
Alloy Steel Cap
ASTM A234 WP11 / WP12 / WP5 / WP9 / WP22 / WP91 / WP92, 15CrMoG,12Cr1MoVG, 12Cr5Mo, 1Cr5Mo, Cr9Mo, 10CrMo910, 12CrMo4-5
Stainless Steel Cap
ASTM A403 WP304/304L/304H, 316/316L, 310S, 317, 347, 904L, A815 S32205, S31803, S32750, S32760
Advantages
The construction of the butt weld end cap offers significant advantages. Its seamless integration with the pipeline through welding guarantees a leak proof closure, enhancing the systems overall integrity. The cap’s design provides a stronger connection by creating a continuous metal structure between the pipe and the fitting. This structural addition not only adds strength but also improves the durability of the pipeline.
UNS S32750 butt weld end cap is designed to be smooth, reducing pressure losses. This smoothness and the caps gradual contour, significantly lower the risks of corrosion and abrasion, extending the pipelines lifespan. The compact nature of the welded system also reduces spatial requirements, making it an ideal choice for setups where space is at a premium.
What is UNS S32750?
Alloy 32750 is a super duplex stainless steel supplied in solution annealed condition. As a super duplex stainless steel, it combines the ideal properties of austenitic and ferritic steel grades. Higher chromium, molybdenum and nitrogen content results in a Pitting Resistance Equivalency (PREN) >41, providing better pitting and crevice corrosion resistance than austenitic and duplex stainless steels in almost all corrosive media, and a critical pitting temperature over 50°c.
When supplied in the annealed condition, its yield strength reaches 80ksi (550Mpa), which is higher than most austenitic and duplex stainless steel grades. It cannot be hardened by heat treatment but can be strengthened by cold working. It also exhibits a lower coefficient of thermal expansion and higher thermal conductivity than austenitic steels and is suitable for operating temperatures up to 300'c. Alloy32750 is listed to NACE MR 0175 for sour environments and is ASME approved for pressure vessel applications for use in a variety of applications.
