ANSI B16.5 Blind Flange is a type of flange connection. Blind flange is a flange without a hole in the middle. It is usually used at the end of the pipe to seal the end of the pipe. Moreover, it is convenient to remove impurities in the pipeline during maintenance. Under normal circumstances, the flange blind will be used with the flange. Raised Face(RF): Raised face is the most widely used and common of these types. The projection height is usually fixed by International and European standards, but it should be noticed that the highest pressure height will increase the height of raised face for American standard flanges and many types of gaskets can be used .
Falt Face(FF):The sealing surface of the Flat Face is completely flat. It is suitable for the occasion of low pressure and non-toxic medium. But the sealing surface and gasket contact area is large, the required compression force is large, installation gasket should not be positioned.
Male/Female Face(MFM): The sealing surface of the flange is composed of a concave surface and a convex surface, and the gasket is placed in the concave surface. Compared with the plane flange, the gasket in the concave and convex flange is not easy to be extruded, and the assembly is easy to center. The working pressure range is wider than that of the flat face, and it is used for the occasions with strict sealing requirements,but it is not easy to replace gasket.
Tongue-Groove Face(TG): It is similar to the Male/Female Face, consisting of a tongue surface and a groove surface, and the seal is narrower. Because the gasket position in the annular groove does not have direct contact with the medium in the tube, it reduces the loss of the fluid medium to a certain extent, so the TG face can be used for high pressure, flammable and explosive, toxic media and other sealing requirements.
Ring Joint Face(RJ): It also belongs to narrow flange, sealing surface is trapezoidal groove surface, ring surface does not need to be paired. Just use different gaskets, need octagonal metal ring pad or oval metal ring pad to seal.
