ASTM A420 standard is a standard issued by American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), mainly including four grades of materials: WPL6, WPL9, WPL3 and WPL8.This standard is mainly used to standardize the technical requirements for the manufacture, inspection and use of low-temperature carbon steel and low-alloy steel pipe fittings in low-temperature environments, and provides detailed descriptions of the chemical composition, mechanical properties, impact properties, impact test temperature, etc. of low-temperature steel materials.
ASTM A420 WPL6 is currently the most commonly used low-temperature steel material in the butt welding pipe market. It is an alloy steel that is resistant to low-temperature environments, which is composed of a suitable amount of one or more alloying elements added to ordinary carbon steel.ASTM A420 WPL6 material is used to manufacture seamless and straight-weld butt welding pipe fittings. According to the shape and application characteristics of butt welding pipe fittings, it can be divided into: long radius/short radius elbow, equal diameter/reducer tee, equal diameter/reducer cross, concentric/eccentric reducer, pipe cap, flanging nipple, and other types of pipe fittings that can be used in low-temperature pressure pipelines and pressure vessels.
The corresponding American standard steel pipe material standard is ASTM A333 GR6.
