Butt Welded Cap is a device used to close pipelines and pipelines. Its main function is to prevent the leakage of fluid or gas in the pipelines and to protect the pipelines from the external environment. What Are Butt-Welded Pipe Fittings?

Butt-welded pipe fittings are pipe fittings that are connected to pipes by welding and are particularly suitable for long pipes, but not for pipes that require frequent removal. In piping system, butt-welded pipe fittings are pressure piping elements used in petrochemical electric power plants to change the direction or diameter of pipes, branch pipes and achieve special connection functions. It is an important part of penstock installation. The quality level of pipe fittings directly affects the safe and stable operation of the whole pipeline system because of the change of flow direction and flow area of the medium in its installation position and the complexity of internal and external stresses. They are available in a variety of product types, such as 90 degree elbow, 45 degree elbow, tee, cross, cap, concentric reducer, eccentric reducer, and flanged joints.

Application of Butt Welded Cap

Caps are widely used in various industrial fields, such as petroleum, chemical, natural gas, shipbuilding, medicine, etc. Its specific application scope includes:

  • Piping connections of valves, pumps, pressure vessels, etc.

  • Oil and gas pipelines, water pipelines, chemical pipelines and other pipeline systems.

  • Production equipment in medicine, food, cosmetics and other industries

Production Process of Butt Welded Cap

  1. Factory Inspection: The sheet steel used for manufacturing pipe caps must comply with the requirements of the corresponding sheet steel manufacturing standards.

  2. Blanking: Cutter is used for blanking, and the size of blanking shall meet the technical requirements.

  3. Billet heating: The debris on the material must be cleaned before the billet is loaded into the furnace. Strictly control the heating temperature according to the material, and the heating temperature should be uniform.

  4. Stamping: Select the corresponding model of the complete set of dies positioned on the press, and fasten the upper and lower dies with the press separately with bolts of sufficient strength. The dies should not only be in the middle of the press span to prevent eccentricity, but also have an even clearance between the upper and lower tires. The oxide in the dies should be removed at any time to prevent scratches on the pipe caps.

  5. Grooves: Small diameter pipe cap is machined by lathe and large diameter pipe cap is machined by rotary flame cutting equipment.

  6. Rust removal: Before painting, the surface of pipe cap should be rust-removing treatment. The purpose is to remove floating rust, increase rust-removing effect to remove floating rust. It is better to see the natural color of metal.

  7. Painting: The cap is painted with black or red anti-rust paint. Paint should be uniform, free of leaks and drips.

  8. Identification: Finished caps shall be marked with durability and legible handwriting. If the identification method is specified by the demander, it shall be carried out as specified by the demander. If not specified by the demander, the performance of the product shall be in accordance with the standard.

  9. Inspection warehousing: Geometric dimensions and appearance of caps shall be inspected by the quality inspector before storage. The inner and outer surfaces of the cap shall be free from scratches, grooves or obvious depressions caused by collisions, and shall be free from defects such as cracks, scarring, folding and stratification.
