ASTM A182 welding neck flanges are a type of flange with a neck and a round steel pipe connection, which are connected to the pipe end by butt welding. It is a disk-shaped part that is most commonly used in pipeline engineering, and flanges are used in pairs.A gasket is added between the two flanges, which are then fastened with bolts.Flanges with different pressures have different thicknesses and use different bolts. This type of flange has the characteristics of low variability, good sealing performance, moderate stiffness and toughness, etc.
ASTM A182 is a material standard for high-pressure forged flanges in the American standard, which specifies the chemical composition, mechanical properties, and heat treatment requirements for various grades of alloy materials, stainless steel materials, and duplex stainless steel materials.
The Performance of Alloy Material For Welding Neck Flanges
ASTM A182 F11 is a relatively common alloy flange, which is divided into three grades, each with different chemical composition and mechanical property requirements, to accommodate different environments for pipeline systems.

Alloy flanges have strong corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance, excellent sealing performance, and rigid and elastic requirements, and are widely used in various industrial fields.
Performance of ASTM A182 Stainless Steel
ASTM A182 F304/304H/304L are all austenitic stainless steel materials, which are commonly used in the raw materials of ASTM A182 butt welding flanges. Their prices are relatively cheaper than stainless steel materials such as 316 and 904, so they are widely used in pipeline systems.

Duplex Stainless Steel
Duplex stainless steel (DSS) refers to a type of stainless steel with a composition of 50% ferrite and 50% austenite. In the case of low carbon content, the Cr content is 18% to 28% and the Ni content is 3% to 10%.Some steels also contain alloying elements such as Mo, Cu, Nb, Ti, N, etc. This type of steel combines the characteristics of austenitic and ferritic stainless steels, with higher plasticity and toughness compared to ferritic stainless steel, no room temperature brittleness, significantly improved intergranular corrosion resistance and weldability, while maintaining the 475°C brittleness of ferritic stainless steel and high thermal conductivity, with superplastic characteristics.Compared to austenitic stainless steel, duplex stainless steel has higher strength and significantly improved resistance to intergranular corrosion and chloride stress corrosion.Duplex stainless steel has excellent pitting corrosion resistance and is also a nickel-saving stainless steel.
ASTM A182 F51/53/55 is a duplex stainless steel that is commonly used for forging ASTM A182 welding neck flanges. Duplex steel is more commonly used in pipelines used in some special environments, where higher material requirements are imposed, and it can play a greater role.
