Stainless steel socket weld flange have a socket interface. The socket part is a concave structure with an inner diameter slightly larger than the outer diameter of the pipe connected to it. The spigot part is the structure at the end of the pipe, and its outer diameter matches the inner diameter of the socket. This structural design allows the pipe to be inserted into the socket of the flange to form a tight connection.

Stainless steel has good strength and toughness. In the structure of the socket flange, this allows the flange to withstand a certain amount of pressure without being easily deformed. At the same time, the corrosion resistance of stainless steel is also reflected in the structure of the flange.

Stainless Steel Socket Weld Flange Face Types

RF Type

Raised face is a common face type of socket welding flange. It has a raised annular surface on the sealing surface of the flange, and this annular surface is protruding relative to the connecting surface of the flange.

Sealing principle

The raised face flange mainly relies on the extrusion between the raised face and the gasket to achieve sealing. When the bolts are tightened, the raised face of the flange presses the gasket tightly against the raised face of the mating flange, thereby preventing the medium from leaking. When using soft gaskets (such as rubber gaskets), the raised face can adapt well to the deformation of the gasket to ensure the sealing effect.

Application scenarios

Raised face stainless steel socket weld flanges are widely used in medium and low pressure pipeline systems, especially in some occasions where the sealing requirements are not extremely high. Raised face socket welding flanges can often be seen in building water supply and drainage systems, general industrial ventilation duct systems, etc.

RTJ Type

The sealing surface of the ring joint surface has an annular groove on the flange surface, which is used to accommodate a sealing ring of a specific shape.

Sealing principle

During installation, the metal ring is placed in the sealing groove. When the bolts begin to tighten, the two flange surfaces gradually approach each other, and the metal ring is first slightly squeezed. Since the material of the metal ring has a certain elasticity, it can adaptively fill the tiny gap in the sealing groove to form an initial seal.

Application scenario

During the extraction, transportation and processing of oil and natural gas, there are a large number of high-pressure pipeline systems. Since oil and gas are under high pressure, RTJ flanges can provide reliable sealing, prevent oil and gas leakage, and ensure production safety. In high-pressure reactors, high-pressure steam pipelines and other devices in the chemical industry, RTJ stainless steel socket weld flanges are also an ideal choice.
