Usage For Weight

Weight of butt weld fittings is an important and necessary information for checking freight, especially tee and elbow and reducer in large size. The common sea shipping ways are LCL/20GP/40GP/40HQ.

  • LCL: Less than full container

  • 20GP: 2.35M*5.9M*2.4M

  • 40GP: 2.35M*12M*2.4M

  • 40HQ/HC: 2.35M*12M*2.7

Notes:The weight of all containers is about 26 tons, the difference is volume.

For the normal used size and thickness schedule of steel pipe tee,we would like to share the weight chart for customers.

If the sizes or thickness schedule are not shown in above chart, there is a calculation formula to calculate the weight.

Butt Weld Steel Pipe Tee Weight Calculator:

  • W=[OD-(T+2)]*(T+2)*0.02466*2C

  • OD:Outside Diameter

  • T:Wall Thickness

  • C:Center to end.

  • OD and T will be refer to steel pipe specification.

  • C can be got from Tee data sheet in standard of ASME B16.9

Butt Weld Reducing Tee Weight Calculation or Calculator

  • W=0.02466*(T1+1.5)[OD1-(T1+1.5)](3C-OD1/2)/1000

  • There is easy way to get the reducing tee weight.

  • if the branch size is reducing one size, it will be 0.94 times of equal tee weight.

  • if the branch size is reducing two size, it will be 0.91 times of straight tee weight.

  • if the branch size is reducing three size, it will be 0.89 times of equal tee weight.

What Will Influence Weight in Different Material

For the weight calculation formula or chart, it is based on the carbon steel material, if stainless steel material, it may a little heavier, due to its density is larger. If aluminium material, it will be more light, because the density is very small. Anyway, you can get the weight by formula: density / carbon steel density x carbon steel weight.

What is Steel Pipe Tee

Steel pipe tees are used to branch the flow of fluid or gas to change the direction in the piping systems. This function is similar to elbows and crosses, the only difference is the angle degree of different pipe fittings.

Steel Pipe Tee

Equal Tee VS Reducing Tee

Reducing tees have one more function than equal tee, it can reduce the flow in the piping systems. The branch is smaller than the run pipe. So its weight is lighter than equal tee in the same size of run pipe.

Lateral Tee

There is also a special type that called Lateral Tee.The only difference is the angle of branch from the run pipe between lateral tee and regular pipe tee. The angle of lateral tee is 45 degree while the other is 90 degree.
