ASME generally refers to the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, ASME B16.11 is a standard recommended by the American Society of Mechanical Engineering covering socket welding and threaded parts, and is also a relatively authoritative and widely used recommended standard in the world.
ASME B16.11 is a standard covering ratings, dimensions, tolerances, marking and material requirements for socket welding and threaded fittings. If there are custom designed forged fittings of special size, it may be manufactured by agreement between the manufacturer and the Buyer according all other requirements of this standard. The pressure grades of threaded fittings are 2000, 3000 and 6000; the pressure grades of socket welding fittings are 3000, 6000, and 9000. Typically, the sizes (NPS) of both fittings are 1/8" to 4".
ASME B16.11 Socket Weld Pipe Fittings are high pressure pipe fittings formed mainly by die forging blank of round steel or steel ingot and then machined by lathe. The common socket weld pipe fittings are: Socket Cap, Socket 45° Elbow , Socket 90° Elbow , Socket Weld Tee, Socket Weld Cross, Socket Weld Coupling, Socket Weld Union, etc.
ASME B16.11 Threaded Pipe Fittings are pipe fittings with threads, made of stainless steel, alloy steel, carbon steel and other materials, suitable for each pipe connection. The common socket weld pipe fittings are: Threaded Elbow, Threaded Cross, Threaded Tee, Threaded Coupling, Threaded Cap, Threaded Union, Threaded Nipple, Swage Nipple, Hex Nipple, Threaded Plug, and Bushing. The thread forms are NPT thread, BSTP thread and BSPP thread.
