3D Pipe Bend is a pipe whose radius of curvature is equal to 3 times the outside diameter of the pipe, i.e. R=3D (D is the diameter of the bend and R is the radius of curvature). It has the same function as the long radius elbow (bend radius is 1.5 times the nominal diameter of the pipe) and the short radius elbow (bending radius is equal to the nominal diameter of the pipe), which is a kind of pipe fitting for the bend of the pipe. 3D pipe bend has applications in various industries, such as electric power, petroleum, Marine, chemical and other fields.
Elbow pipe fitting is a bend pipe fitting. Specifically, the bend is a completely integrated curved pipe, and the elbow is the component that changes the direction of the pipe. Although they are both components that change the direction of the pipe, there are many differences between them. They have advantages in each other and can neither be mixed nor substituted for each other.
The Diffierence between Elbow and Bend
The process of craft
The difference between a bend and a elbow is that the elbow is shorter than the bend. The process of seamless elbow is hot pushing, cold pressing and hot pressing, and the process of bending pipe is medium frequency bending, hot pressing and numerical control bending. Carbon steel is the most commonly used elbow in pressure pipelines.
Different manufacturing costs
Elbow is generally higher than bend control, elbow need to do anti-corrosion treatment, if you do not do anti-corrosion, it is easy to damage.
Different Impact strength
The elbow and the bend have different R, which is a position that controls the length of the elbow and the bend. The impact strength of a small R through the medium is certainly much greater than that of a large R, that is, a 1D elbow is not as strong as a 1.5D elbow. 1.5D elbows have a lower impact strength than bend, and bend is more resistant to scour and wear than elbow.
Different application scope
In a good construction environment, elbow and bend can be used simultaneously. During construction, the elbow is more suitable for use in relatively narrow areas. The bending pipe needs to consider the specific construction environment. Although it can also be used in cramped environments,but often meet some trouble.
The Symbol for Bend Pipe
Schxx is the wall thickness grade,
90e(s) indicates short radius 90 degree bend;
90e(l) represents a 90-degree elbow with a long radius;
45e(l) represents long radius 45 degree elbow;
45e(s) represents short radius 45 degree elbow;
180e(s) represents a short radius 180 degree elbow;
180e(l) represents long radius 180 degree bend ;
The pressure wall thickness of 3D bend pipe is Sch5s, Sch10s, Sch10, Sch20, Sch30, Sch40s, STD, Sch40, Sch60, Sch80s, XS; Sch80, S100, Sch120, Sch140, Sch160, XXS; The two most commonly used are STD and XS.
