Different Between ASME B16.11 and ASME B16.9 Elbow
At some time we will see 90 degree and 45 degree elbows both under the standard of ASME B16.9 and ASME B16.11, what is the difference between these two standard? ASME B16.9 is the general manufacturing standard of butt weld fittings, and ASME B16.11 is the requirement for forged steel fittings which includes socket weld and threaded fittings. They both contains the requirement of dimensions, tolerance, temperature, markings for the products. So ASME B16.11 elbows means the end connection of the elbows is in socket weld end and threaded end.
We know that different from butt weld fittings using schedule number as the serial number stand for one specific thickness data, the forged fittings use pressure rating as the requirement for the thickness. Distinguished by the end connection type, a ASME B16.11 elbow may be a socket weld elbow with pressure rating class 3000/6000/9000 or a threaded elbow with pressure rating class 2000/3000/6000. Their corresponding grades in thickness schedule is as the chart below.

Of course there is other manufacturing standard in other countries, ASME standard is just the one compiled by American government. For example, BS3799 is from England and EN 10241 is from EU.

Inspection and Package
For the inspection, we will measure the outer diameter, outer diameter, thickness, depth of the socket and threaded end, take the picture of them as a record and can be supplied to your side.
For package service, our goods are all in standard sea-trans wooden case, or non-fumigation wooden pallet. If the forged fittings’ size is under 2 inches, we will have another carton inside the wooden case.
