What is ASME B16.11 Threaded Cap
ASTM B16.11 Threaded cap is a pipe fittings that cover the pipe end to block off the pipeline by thread.Usually suitable for serving small diameter pipes which below 4 inch. The dimensions and materials differ according to application and standard, but the forged threaded cap is a small pipe fitting that is so important in many piping projects.
ASME B16.11 threaded cap sizes range up to 4 inches in diameter. The caps are used commonly in small size pipes. The threaded cap dimensions vary according to the pipe system they are used in.
The Forged Threaded Cap is forged and is heat treated during production so that the pressure containment capacity could be high in types such as 3000LB, 6000LB and 9000LB forged threaded cap.

ASME B16.11 Threaded Cap Inspection
The inspection of threaded cap details for reference:
• Check the dimension and pressure data if apply standard of ASME B16.11.
• Check the surface and quantity if match the order requirement.
• Check the weld beads for deterioration or contamination signs.
• Check to see if the pipe and fitting need to be appropriately aligned.
• Check the heated tool for material degradation signs.
• Verify that the beads between the pipe and the fitting are uniform on both sides of the joint.
• Including but more than these what is based on client’s specific requirements.
How to Determine Pipe Thread Type
Usually, we use caliper to measure the first, fourth and final full thread. If the measurements are all the same, then it's parallel. If the measurements decrease in size, then it's tapered. NPT, NPTF, BSPT, and Metric Tapered are examples of tapered threads.
Common Thread Types of Threaded Fittings
BSPP: British Standard Pipe Parallel
BSPT: British Standard Pipe Tapered
NPT: American National Standard Pipe Tpaer
