ASME B16.9 Standard
ASME B 16.9 is the standard of butt weld fittings which is set by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.Butt weld cap is one type of butt weld fittings which is also follow ASME B16.9 standard. B 16.9 refers to factory-made butt welding fittings.

Face Finish
Painting for the butt weld cap is usually used for rust protection in transit. Some clients will remove the painting and repaint with better paint when they receive the cap. Of course, we also can paint according to client’s requirements about the paint brand, wall thickness and so on.
Except the painting, galvanized is also used for rust protection or anti corrosion.
Carbon Steel Cap VS Stainless Steel Cap
In general, carbon steel cap are widely used for applications which do not require materials with higher resistance to corrosion such as stainless steel and alloy steel. Carbon steel cap is primarily used across piping systems for its hardness, moderate to good tensile strength and inexpensiveness.
