What is ASTM A105 Threaded Union
Threaded union is a kind of fitting which allows pipes to be separated and reconnected without any horizontal movement in the pipe. It can be a standalone pipe fitting connecting two pieces of pipe, or an integral part of another fitting (such as a ball valve) which allows it to be separated.
To make the threaded union works properly, both male and female ends are secured together with nuts. Usually, two types of threaded union are offered F/F and F/M.
ASTM A105 threaded union is usually used at fixture and equipment connections and to effect repairs and tie-ins for adding to an existing piping system. Unions should not be installed in inaccessible locations.
Specification of Threaded Union
ASTM A105 threaded union is a forged fitting. It's designed for unite two pipes which can be detached without causing any deformation to the pipes. Any kind of small diameter piping connections requiring a positive seal and easy assembly as well as disassembly are made with the help of pipe union. Three parts of threaded union: A nut, a female end, a male end.

Difference Between a Union and a Coupling
Threaded Union
Threaded Coupling
The basic difference between a coupling and a union is that coupling is for joining pipe to pipe or pipe to a swedge. The union is made for joining and disassemble a part of a piping system (a steam trap or control valve, etc) for maintenance or replacement.
