Pressure Rating of ASME B 16.11 Threaded Fittings
In the American manufacturing standard ASMEB 16.11 for forged steel fittings, there are three different pressure rating class for the threaded fittings, class 2000, class 3000 and class 6000, some times they will also be written as PSI 2000/3000/6000 or 2000/3000/6000 pounds. The class 2000 rating is rare in the market cause its lower pressure can be perfectly substited by class 3000 material. That is why class 3000 threaded coupling is the most commonly used threaded coupling in all kinds of couplings.
Types of Threads in Threaded Fittings
There are different kinds of threads all over the world, there main difference is their parallel and tapered design. ASME B16.11 design class 3000 couplings are typically approved with NPT threads if without customers detailed instruction, but can be customized.
Most common threads
M - ISO thread (metric)
NPT - Pipe thread.
G/R/Rp - Whitworth thread (BSPP/BSPT)
UNC/UNF - Unified National thread.
Extra: Comparison sheet (M - BSPP - BSPT - NPT - UNC - UNF)
Dimensions of Class 3000 Coupling
Basing one the threaded end type is required for both end, or only one end, the class 3000 couplings can be divided into full coupling and half coupling.Their length and usage are totally different.

Inspection and Package of Threaded Coupling
About the inspection, we will measure the final product about its inner diameter, outer diameter, thickness, height and other dimensions to compared with the standard manufacturing data.
To inspect the threads, we will use a typical rotor to see if the rotor can screw in and out the coupling to make sure the parallel and tapered degree are right.
Size below 2 inches, the final package is carton with a wooden box, if in stainless steel material, there will be a plastic bag for each threaded coupling. Size over 2 inches, we the final package is a wooden case, but can be adjusted as the customers requirements.
