What is MSS SP-83 Threaded Union
MSS SP-83 threaded union is a pipe connection that is easy to assemble and disassemble. It can be widely used in different diameters pipeline connection, and the connection of meter and valve with pipe line.
MSS SP-83 threaded union is a common threaded fitting which allows the pipe to be separated and reconnected without any horizontal movement in the pipe. It can be a standalone pipe fitting connecting two pieces of pipe, or an integral part of another fitting (such as a ball valve) which allows it to be separated.
They are used on pipe systems, including plumbing that soldered, brazed, welded, solvent welded or threaded connections. Unions are used at fixture and equipment connections and to effect repairs and tie-ins for adding to an existing piping system. Unions should not be installed in inaccessible locations.

Parts of a Threaded Union
The stainless threaded union joint consists of three parts – a nut, a female end, and a male end. To make the stainless threaded union fitting work properly, both male and female ends are secured together with nuts.
How to install a Union
The process to connect the two pipes is simple: place both ends of MSS SP-83 threaded union onto either side of the pipe and then tighten it in a clockwise direction to the extreme. To ensure that no water can escape during use, we recommend covering each end with PTFE tape.
