The heat input in our P12 welded alloy steel pipe should also be low enough that the total time of the heat affected zone in the range of 1300 ° F - 1800 ° F is not sufficient for the intermetallic phase to precipitate.
It is highly recommended that these AS P12 EFW pipes be cleaned after welding using chemical or mechanochemical methods to remove welding spatter, thermal tint or other contaminants. In alloy steel P12 seamless pipes, the heat input should be sufficient to avoid excessive ferrite welds and heat-affected zones due to rapid hardening of the substrate.
