Brief Introduction of Stainless Steel Socket Weld Tee
Stainless Steel Socket welding (SW) is applied for welding pipes and fittings such as tees. Socket weld pipe fittings are used to permanently join pipes that are inserted into a recess in the fitting, flange or valve. Once correctly inserted, fillet type sealing welds are applied to join the pipe to the fitting.
Pipe tee is a fittings that is T shape which has two outlets at an angle of 90° each and one main connection line. It is a pipe that has adjacent outlets and used to connect pipes at 90° angle. Pipe tee are used for commercial as well as industrial applications.
Stainless Steel Socket Weld Tees act as branch connectors. They can take a single line and turn it into two outlets. The center branch is the main line, whereas the two branches on the side are the outlets.

What is the Difference Between Socket Weld and Butt Weld
A socket weld tee can fit over the outside of the pipe it is being welded whereas a butt weld is the welding of two of the same diameters joined end to end.
In short, fillet weld is formed by socket welding while butt weld is formed by butt welding. If it requires to weld in a high pressure or severe environment, it is recommended to use proper welding method.
Inspection and Package
Visual the surface of socket weld fittings such as dents, die marks, porosity.
Check the marking such as size, grade, pressure, standard.
Measure dimensions such as outside diameter, thickness, socket dimensions.
Test the chemical composition of stainless steel tees.
