Brief Introduction of UNS S31803 45 Degree Elbow
ASTM A815 UNS S31803 is specification for duplex stainless steel fittings of seamless and welded construction, 45 degree elbow is included among them.
As a kind of duplex grade with a ferritic-austenitic microstructure, the alloy consists of around 40-50% ferrite in the annealed condition. The duplex microstructure has the high strength of the ferritic grades whilst retaining the corrosion resistance of the austenitic grades.
UNS S31803 45 degree elbow is applied to connect tubes at a 45 degree pipe angle. As we can see from the name, 45 degree elbow is a bent which produces 45°change in the direction of the fluid or gas in the pipe.
Features of UNS S31803 45 Degree Elbow
UNS S31803 45 degree elbows exhibit excellent corrosion resistance in various environments, particularly in aggressive environments containing chlorides, and acids, such as those with high chloride content. Moreover, the duplex structure imparts high strength and toughness to UNS S31803 which makes it suitable for demanding applications. What’s more, UNS S31803 is weldable, allowing for the fabrication of complex piping systems without difficulty.
Advantages
Corrosion resistance: UNS S31803 45 degree elbow has high corrosion resistance, especially in the environment with chlorides;
High strength: UNS S31803 45 degree elbow shows a high yield and tensile strength;
High resistance to stress corrosion: The material which is alloy improves resistance to stress corrosion cracking.
Improved resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion: UNS S31803 45 degree elbow has better resistance to pitting & crevice corrosion than other stainless steels.

Application
UNS S31803 45 degree elbow is commonly employed in offshore and onshore oil and gas installations and is utilized in pipelines, process piping, and equipment for transporting and processing oil, gas, and other products.
Due to its great strength and corrosion resistance, it is ideal to be applied in power generation facilities, especially in high-temperature and high-pressure applications.
Thanks to the material property, marine environments, such as ships, offshore platforms, and desalination facilities, can benefit from its superior corrosion resistance in seawater.
UNS S31803 45 degree elbow is suitable to be used in oil & gas production and transportation systems due to its high strength corrosion resistance.
UNS S31803 45 degree elbow is resistant to a wide range of chemicals, and it can be used in chemical processing plants.
