UNS S32205 But weld tee is composed primarily of iron, chromium, and nickel, with molybdenum added to enhance their corrosion-resistant properties. It is also known for its high strength-to-weight ratio and excellent weldability.
The addition of molybdenum reduces the risk of pitting in chloride environments by forming protective oxide films on the surface. As such, it is often used in marine or offshore environments where corrosion resistance is needed.
In addition to its excellent corrosion resistance, UNS S32205 Butt Weld Tee offers superior mechanical properties compared to conventional stainless steels due to their higher strength levels. They are also highly resistant to stress corrosion cracking in chloride-containing media due to the molybdenum in their composition. Other notable properties include good ductility, impact toughness, and excellent thermal stability at elevated temperatures.
